Douglas County is taking a stand against a pair of bills that could increase the workload on courts and incarceration in Wisconsin.
The agenda is finalized for the 33rd annual Superior Days lobbying effort. The effort runs Feb. 21-22 in Madison. This year the delegation will be bringing four issues to the Legislature. Superior Days will revisit Better City Superior and developing legislation an exposition district. This year, a bill is being proposed to enable exposition districts in the cities of Superior and Eau Claire. The exposition district would give the cities tools to bolster economic development efforts.

Why would stretches of the highway belong to Douglas County and other stretches belong to Bayfield County?
Douglas County's Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved five stretches of county highway that could be designated for ATV use. The approved sections include County Highway AA (Business Highway 53 and County Highway A (and Sjoberg Road) in Solon Springs; County Highway A from Jersett Road to Jackson Drive; County Highway A from East Tower Fire Lane to Empire Wilderness Road; County Highway B from Wild Rivers Trail to Rockmount Road; and a 4.7-mile stretch of County Road M from West Crotte Brook Road to State Highway 35.
