Michael Clark Callaway

Michael Clark Callaway, 56 of Shabbona, IL, passed away, Saturday, December 9, 2017. He was born on November 24, 1961 to Allan and Shelby Callaway of Lake Nebagamon WI. Mike attended school in Superior, WI. Until his family moved to Lake Nebagamon. While at Northwestern H.S. In Maple, he excelled in many sports. He graduated H S. With the class of 1980.

On May 9, 1981, he married, Jill M. Kallinen, his H. S. Sweetheart. They celebrated 36 years of marriage. In 1981, Mike enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and proudly served his country for seven years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. While there, he cross-trained to Air Traffic Control. He joined the F. A. A., and was recruited by "The busiest and the best," Chicago Center in Aurora IL. He was able to retire at the age of 50.

Since then, Mike and Jill have enjoyed traveling to visit their entire family. And experiencing amazing adventures together. Mike was a true outdoorsman! He also loved the Green Bay Packers. Go Pack Go.

Mike is survived by: his wife Jill Callaway of Shabbona, IL, children: Brenna (Brandon) Merchant, OR, Michael (Claudia) Callaway, MO, Tara Callaway(Bret)Greenheck, WA.

Also, 5 grandchildren who are adored! Parents: Allan and Shelby Callaway, Lake Nebagamon; Brothers: Tim (Diane) Callaway, Spooner...Dr. Mark (Amy) Callaway, Duluth; Aunts: Delores Leuthner, Sharon Erickson, Carol Callaway, Uncle, Bob Erickson; Several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents and uncles: Russ Clark, Charles Callaway, James Leuthner.

Mike was a loving man, husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather. His passion for living life to it's fullest extent will never be forgotten. He will be missed beyond words by all of his family, and all those who knew him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all friends, relatives, and neighbors for the prayers,cards, and love sent to each of us. All are invited to attend Mike's memorial service at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon at 10 a.m. On June 30, 2018.
