Library closes for construction

While Superior Public Library may be closed to the public, we are bustling with activity as we begin the most extensive phases of our remodeling project. New carpet is first on the list. This means that everything currently located on the old carpet (Children's materials, old Circulation Desk, public computers, and much more) needs to be moved out of the way so that the old carpet can be removed, asbestos abatement can be completed, and new carpet can be installed. Once the new carpet is installed and the new, lower shelving arrives, library staff will begin returning materials to the new shelves. The library will reopen May 29. In the meantime, pickup of holds is available 4-6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. We ask that you hold on to the items you have checked out until we reopen.

On Tuesday, May 8, Storytime will be held at Billings Park Civic Center at 10:30 a.m. After that, we will take a brief break before resuming Storytime at 10:30 a.m. June 19 at the library. Come for stories, crafts and fun, and check out the newly expanded Children's Room and Storytime area.

As summer approaches, it's time to get ready for Summer Reading. This year's Summer Reading Program theme is "Libraries Rock!" Kids of all ages up to 18 can win prizes for reading all summer long. We've also got a great schedule of musical summer reading events including performances by Scottish dancers, teen band Born Too Late, and the World Beat Drummers. Stay tuned for more details.
